Add a fruit share to your vegetable CSA to get nature’s candy— a selection of the freshest fruits straight from NYS and Long Island farms— onto your table. We grow our own organic strawberries, blueberries and melons on our farm, and at times supplement with both organic and non-organic from surrounding farms during the Summer/Fall season. Winter fruit shares are all organic.
June
June marks the beginning of berry season, and strawberries are tend to be the first to ripen! Fruit share quantities vary based on the changing value of the fruit, but expect around 2 quarts of strawberries.
July
Berry season continues with an abundance of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Expect around 3 pints of blueberries or 3 half pints of raspberries or blackberries. Stone fruit season is on the horizon, so you might even get some cherries!
August
In August, stone fruit season is in full swing, which brings peaches, apricots, nectarines, and plums. Garden of Eve melons are also ready for harvesting. The poundage increases to approx 3-4 lbs of two different kinds of fruits each week.
September
Stone fruit season continues, but the chillier weather also begins the transition to heartier fruits such as apples and pears.
October
Summer fruit season is officially over, and fall fruits, like pears and apples, are in full swing. Expect 3-4 lbs of apples throughout the fall— perfect for baking, cooking, or keeping the doctor away.
November
No plans for Thanksgiving dessert? November fruit shares will have apples of many different varieties— including some heirloom ones— perfect for a delicious apple pie.
Winter (Dec-Mar)
Winter fruit shares will contain heirloom apples and pears, organic Florida oranges and grapefruit, frozen berries and some fruit jams made at Garden of Eve with organic ingredients!
